Leading Telecoms services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has been named the Most Innovative Telecoms Operator in Nigeria at an Industry Award’s event that attracted regulators, telecoms pundits, top politicians and seasoned journalists.

Chaired by Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, the Nigeria’s Telecoms Award, is widely considered as one of the most prestigious and foremost platforms for celebrating key milestones in Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape.

Airtel also emerged the Best Customer Services Operator at the event, which held Saturday night at the Incubator Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Award citations read in the company’s honour said Airtel has led in innovation and celebrated several milestones as a business in the period under review.

According to the citation, Airtel has grown its network footprints to become the largest 3.75G Network in Nigeria and has also redefined telephony experience across the country with the introduction of the revolutionary High Definition Voice Service, implementation of Google Cache Solution, as well as dominating the 4G landscape with the first successful field trial-launch of Long Term Evolution in key cities.

It added that Airtel is known for its revolutionary approach as evident in ground-breaking value offerings like 5X, a product that was quickly imitated by other operators, and its most recent value proposition, 1SIM, another package that empowers consumers to enjoy same benefits across all networks.

Commenting on why Airtel emerged the Best Customer Services Operator, the Award’s organizers said right from when the Airtel brand was launched in Nigeria in November, 2010, the company has maintained a singular focus of exciting and delighting telecommunications consumers; as a result, it has initiated several programmes to improve its service delivery as well as boost customers’ satisfaction on the network.

“Airtel has also taken its time to build a customer-centric organization. With the launch of I-CARE Philosophy for its staff and key business partners, the company has adopted customer service not only as a passion but a religion that must be practiced wholeheartedly.

“With this move, every staff of Airtel Nigeria becomes a touch point in dealing with customers’ queries and also exceeding their expectations,” the citation said.

Accepting the awards, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Segun Ogunsanya, thanked employees of the organization for their passion and industriousness just as he dedicated both awards to telecommunications consumers and customers of Airtel Nigeria.
