Spirit of Lagos Theme Song Contest winner emerges
For Amadin Samuel Ihegie, it is a dream comes true as he emerged the
winner of the Spirit of Lagos Song Contest. He polled a total of 2,782 votes to
defeat the other top contestants.
The contest which was flagged off on August 29, 2014
saw well over 238 entries which were later screened and reduced to top five
songs by a panel of judges that included seasoned and credible professionals in the music industry.
With this feat, Amadin, who was formally presented
to the media on Tuesday, was rewarded with the sum of N500,000. Added to this
was the adoption of his song as the Spirit of Lagos theme song and an
opportunity of being professionally produced.
Miss Temitope Susan Fajemilehin, the first
runner-up, polled a total of 783 votes and would be rewarded with a total prize
money of N200,000 while Michael Uzoma, the second runner-up with a total of 218
votes, would be N100,000 richer.
Mr. Olaniyi Omotoso, the Project Director, Spirit of
Lagos, expressed appreciation first and foremost to the contestants for their
professional conducts while the competition lasted and most especially to
Lagosians for making the contest a reality through their participation and
votes.
He mentioned that many other engagement platforms
that aptly describe the four cardinal points of the Spirit of Lagos campaign
would continue and will be intensified over the next months.
The Song Contest was one of the platforms set up to
engage Lagosians to buy into the Spirit of Lagos campaign dedicated to behavioural
transformation in Lagos by changing their mindset towards
their environment, public infrastructure and their fellow man among others.
