Etisalat Cliqfest rocks BSU with Olamide, May D
… 100-level student wins brand new car
The Cliqfest train of Etisalat stormed Benue
State University on Friday, with no fewer than 5,000 students across all
faculties and colleges of the University in attendance.
Speaking at the event,
Manager, Youth Segment, Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Idiare Atimomo said Cliqfest
stands for empowering, thrilling as well as developing university students in a
manner that seeks to guarantee them the ability to become self-sufficient after
completing their tertiary education.
“Etisalat is very concerned with the lives of these
youths after school; we are more than dedicated to making sure that each and
everyone present here today become a great achiever of our time after school as
they pursue their respective career of choice and talent development,” he said.
The
two-day programme held Thursday and Friday, and featured a series
of activities beginning with a seminar tagged “Succeeding in Life after School”
where renowned motivational speaker and President of Fifth Gear Plus
Consulting, Mr. Niyi Adesanya gave a lecture on talent development providing
insights on sectors where opportunities abound in the country such as creative,
agro-allied, technology as well as customer service training. He added that the
students needed to be the best at whatever career they decide to go into if
they want to beat unemployment. The seminar was followed by a stage performance
by 1st runner-up of
the Etisalat sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 3, Debbie Rise.
Day 2 of the programme was a musical concert, which featured
Nigeria’s king of rap, Olamide and hip hop star, May D who thrilled the
students with performances of their popular songs. The event also featured
various competitions and performances by student artistes, dancers, as well as
a beauty contest. Football fans were also thrilled by a match played among four
teams, namely Free SMS, Easy Cliq, Mid-night calls & free browsing.
Instant prizes including laptops, Etisalat Gaga
smartphones, Dual SIM phones, Blackberry phones, T-shirts and wrist watches were also dished
out to winners of various categories.
High point of the event was the
raffle draw for the ultimate prize of a brand new Kia Picanto car, which was
won by Mr. Alexander Kpev, a 100 level B.A French student.
Kpev who could not hide his joy, described Etisalat
Nigeria as the “future of telecommunications in Nigeria.” “I am happy that the
trust we placed in Etisalat has been reaffirmed. People can now see with their
eyes that this is true. Etisalat is for real. With Etisalat, what you see is
what you get,” an elated Kpev said.
