British Heritage Resonates at Guinness Nigeria
Guinness Nigeria Plc flaunted its rich
British heritage recently when it played host to the British Deputy High
Commissioner to Nigeria, Peter Carter at its brewery in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos
State.
While receiving the August visitor, Mr.
Babatunde Savage, Chairman, Guinness Nigeria Plc, highlighted that “Guinness is
the biggest UK-parented Nigerian Company quoted on the Stock Exchange, in terms
of capitalisation, turnover and profits and we are indeed very proud of our
British heritage.”
While commending the Deputy High Commissioner
for making out time to visit the plant upon his resumption as the Deputy
British High Commissioner based in Lagos, the Chairman expressed gratitude to
the British High Commission for its support to the company over the years.
He explained that the visit is critical to fostering
stronger cordial ties between the two institutions and its various stakeholders
both in Nigeria and abroad. The visit afforded the visiting commissioner an
opportunity to tour the brewing giant’s Ogba facility while both parties also
took the opportunity to discuss boosting British investments in Nigeria and
strengthening existing British Investments in the country.
Mr. Seni Adetu, Managing Director and Chief
Executive Officer, Guinness Nigeria Plc, took the British Deputy High Commissioner
through the background and portfolio of Guinness Nigeria during the visit and
made it clear that “Guinness Nigeria is a caring organisation. “We pride ourselves
in adding value in every environment within which we operate. This we do
through various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities across various
communities in the country,” he stated.
The British Deputy High Commissioner
commended Guinness Nigeria for sustaining the legacy of the parent company,
Diageo by providing consumers in Nigeria with the quality and premium brands
the company is known for worldwide.
