Barbaric Strategy and Nigerian Police
I have heard, I have read but now I finally saw it with my two 'korokoro' eyes and I confirmed what i have heard and read in time past.
Wondering what this could be? Its no other issue but the one that has to do with our unique black brothers, 'Olopa'.
It was a bizarre moment when I saw a small crowd gathered within a twinkle of an eye around Iyana Ipaja bus stop yesterday morning. To get acquainted with what could have happened at that moment, I went close only to see that some officers of Nigeria Police that took the oath of office to 'serve and project lives and property' had used their Toyota Hilux van to knock down a bike man (okada).
It was even shocking when I discovered that they were not even remorseful over their barbaric act all in the name of arresting and ceasing the bike from the owner. They smiled in high shoulder like they had caught the worst terrorist in the country.
For crying out loud, this is the most ridiculous form of strategy i have seen in my entirety. There are better ways to checkmate these guys and stop them from operating in those routes they have been restricted from.
Most painful of this matter is the fact that these same guys do not always show up at crime scenes. When they are called for rescue operations, most times you here; "there are no personnel on ground, no vehicle, no fuel on the vehicle, that location is not in our jurisdiction, etc." Or sometimes, they tell you "our men are very close to that area" but you will end up not seeing a single man of theirs.
It hurts most when they come after the incident and begin to ask irrelevant questions and often times make arrest of innocent citizens who may even be relatives of the victims. This is totally unaccepted if you ask me.
Currently, they have the habit of chasing okada men in some local street routes especially weekends just to extort them of their hard earned daily income. Too too bad.
However, the crowd and I look with pity and felt for the victim whom the culprits did not bother to know if he was hurt or not.
Sincerely, this is a barbaric strategy.
